·Why three red, white, and blue nail crosses stand on every Red Dirt Devotional: not left, not right — the Man on the middle cross. Ephesians 2:14.
-
Seems these days everybody wants to know what side you're on.
Red or blue. Left or right.
And if you listen to the noise long enough, you'll start believing those are the only choices you've got.
But when I look around, most folks I know don't fit neatly into either box. We're all a little bit red and a little bit blue. Truth be told, if we're thinking straight, we're probably all some shade of purple.
The funny thing is, none of this is new.
On the day Jesus was crucified, there were two men haning along side of him – one on the left and one on the right. Two Thieves. Two sinners. Two men who'd gotten it wrong in life.
And right there between them hung the only One who got everything right.
The answer wasn't on the left. The answer wasn't on the right. The answer was the Man on the middle cross.
I wonder sometimes if we've spent so much time looking at each other that we've forgotten to look at Him. We've pinned our hopes on elections, parties, politicians, and movements. We argue over which side is right while our country grows more divided by the day.
Maybe what America needs isn't a better argument. Maybe we need to get our eyes back on Jesus.
When I think of the colors in our flag, I can't help but think about that white stripe running between the red and blue. White IS Neutral and Purehas no color, only purity. A reminder of love, kindness and forgiveness. Of a Savior who can wash us all to be white as snow.
That folks is what is missing.
We will never be the nation we're supposed to be by fighting for two wrong sides. Healing starts only when we look to the One in the middle. Together we can be red white and blue again. the Man on the middle cross is the answerDescription text goes here
